Wings of love

SHiRK are delighted to have acquired an original print of Stephen Pearson’s 1972 print Wings of Love. This is a 70’s classic, a neo surrealist triumph of the era.

“Taste itself is an incredibly covert term, and this show stresses the multi-levelled ambiguity and ambivalence with which we engage with not only the assessment of certain objects, but also our anxiety about the process of assessment itself.”

Paul Bailey

The picture still speaks to truth, comfortably holding it’s own with Tennis Girl and L’enfant as timeless Athena classics.

It isn’t bad taste. It’s a pivotal work of transgressive irony

Michael Bracewell

Over the coming months the work will be cleaned and re framed and before going on display at SHiGOMA in 2020.
